The setting of a house often provides me with inspiration for the interior. This large family house nestled deep in the valley of Hogg’s Hollow was home to a nature-loving family who loved gardens and the outdoors. The living room was long, dark, and crying out for connection to the lovely exterior landscape.
Rather than introducing numerous floral fabrics, I kept the major pieces for the room in solids and more classic prints, using neutrals punched up by rich, happy colours. I used artwork and accessories for the overt nature elements; the result is an understated, garden-referencing space that now connects to the beauty outside its windows.
